Planning Your Child’s Visit to Camp Y
Camp Y is located just west of Woodland, Manitoba – about 30 minutes from Winnipeg. YMCA YWCA of Winnipeg purchased the site from the Salvation Army in 2010. In the summer season we run a summer camp and during spring, fall and winter we run school programs, rental groups and conferences.

Transportation
Bus transportation to Camp Y will be arranged by your school. The bus trip is approximately ½ hour from the Winnipeg Perimeter Highway.
Accommodation
Students stay in a cabin with other students and a Camp Y staff member. Our cabins have bunk beds, electricity and storage areas. Washrooms are also located inside the cabins and contain toilets, showers and sinks.
Food
Our planned menu for your child’s stay is enclosed. Please ensure that you have noted any dietary restrictions or allergies on your child’s medical form so that our kitchen staff may ensure an alternative meal for them where necessary.
Medical Care and Medications
Camp Y has a Wellness Coordinator on site that is in charge of the care and well being of our guests. The Wellness Coordinator will ensure that all medication is stored securely and dispensed at the proper time and in proper dosage. Please note: All medication must be in original container with child’s name, contents, dosage. In the case of emergency, Camp Y is about 15 minutes from Stonewall hospital. One representative from the school will accompany any student to the hospital.
Staff
Camp Y staff hold current First Aid and CPR certifications. They have cleared a criminal record check and child abuse registry check. Camp Y counselors are assigned to a group of students that they are with during the entire stay – they sleep in the cabin, participate in activities and eat meals with this group. Further staff provide support, administration, food services, site maintenance and cleaning.
Activities
At Camp Y we strive to ensure each student has the opportunity to participate in each of our activities. The schedule for your student’s time at camp is included. All our lessons are taught at an introductory level to ensure that all participants succeed if they try. We encourage students who find camp challenging to try their best and they will receive the support they need.
